Abstract:
Osmotic delivery system semipermeable body assemblies that control the delivery rate of a beneficial agent from an osmotic delivery system incorporating one of the semipermeable body assemblies. A semipermeable body assembly or plug includes a semipermeable body which is positionable in an opening of an osmotic delivery system. The semipermeable body has a hollow interior portion having a size selected to obtain a predetermined liquid permeation rate through the semipermeable body. Because the beneficial agent in the osmotic delivery system is delivered at substantially the same rate the osmotic agent imbibes liquid which has permeated through the plug from a surrounding environment, the liquid permeation rate through the plug controls the delivery rate of the beneficial agent from the osmotic delivery system. The liquid permeation rate through a semipermeable body may be varied to control the delivery rate of beneficial agent from an osmotic delivery system by changing the thickness of the semipermeable body or by changing an amount of surface area of the semipermeable body that is exposed to liquid when the osmotic delivery system is located in a liquid environment of use.
Abstract:
A device for cutting media is provided. The device includes a cover having a sidewall extending therefrom; a guide disposed substantially beneath the cover and comprising a blade; an actuating mechanism disposed in at least one of the cover and the guide; and an actuating wall disposed between the cover and the guide. Engagement of the actuating mechanism creates a cutting action between the blade and the actuating wall.
Abstract:
The present invention pertains to a device for cutting media, such as paper, cardboard, and metal foils. The device has a body that includes a sidewall extending from the body. The device has means for cutting the media disposed in the body. The means for cutting the media has a cutting edge having a leading edge and a trailing edge. The sidewall shrouds at least a portion of the cutting edge. The sidewall has a media contact point that is disposed away from the trailing edge in the direction of the leading edge.

Abstract:
An adjustable bedding (18) cover height and lengthwise positioning apparatus (30). A base (32) is configured for positioning between a bed frame (12) and an adjacent mattress (14). At least one riser (36, 38) allows adjustment of the height and lengthwise positioning of bedding with respect to the mattress. A connecting section (34), connected between the base and the risers optionally allows rotation of the risers with respect to the base. A clip (34) is connected to the at least one riser and secures the bedding to the apparatus. An optional top support (40) provides a support width for the bedding which is preferably at least as broad as the width between a user's feet when the user is sleeping on his or her back. An optional friction strip (39) on the base prevents slippage of the apparatus.
