Abstract: An improved analyzer utilizes electron scanning techniques to examine the spectrum of radiant energy. A comparable spectrum of the background is provided, and the two are alternately scanned. The spectrum can also be ''''folded'''' into a plurality of vertically aligned segments with an adjacent area of corresponding background spectra, and a conventional t v raster scan can be employed. Appropriate processing circuits subtract the background from the signal and store the result. Stored quantities can represent the intensity of incident radiation at each wavelength.
