摘要:
When maximum cell voltage remains at or below a maximum current control voltage (4200 mV), which is below the start-full-charge detection voltage (4210 mV), three consecutive times with 250 ms periodicity, set current is increased one level (128 mA). When maximum cell voltage is higher than the start-full-charge detection voltage three consecutive times with 250 ms periodicity, set current is reduced. When maximum cell voltage is higher than the start-full-charge detection voltage and charging current remains below 384 mA two consecutive times with 250 ms periodicity, the rechargeable battery is determined to be fully-charged.

A MOSFET 61 is connected between a power supply IC6 and a 3.3-V power supply terminal. When the MOSFET 61 is turned OFF, a control circuit board 100 is shut down which includes a control portion 5 for calculating RSOC (remaining capacity ratio). When the control circuit board 100 returns from shutdown, the maximum cell voltage is detected as OCV (open circuit voltage). RSOC can be calculated based on the maximum cell voltage by using the discharge characteristic which relates OCV to RSOC. In this case, a quadratic curve line segment is selected from an approximate curve line which approximates the discharge characteristics. RSOC can be calculated by substituting the detected maximum cell voltage into the quadratic function which is represented by the selected quadratic curve line segment.

The method of charging a battery array performs constant current and constant voltage charging of a battery array while detecting the voltage of each battery. The battery array is a plurality of series connected batteries. The charge method detects the voltage of each battery cell at a prescribed sampling rate. When the voltage of any battery cell exceeds a preset maximum specified voltage, charging power is reduced for constant current, constant voltage charging of the battery array.

摘要:
If a protection voltage (or setting voltage value) is continuously exceeded for two times (three times) by all of the voltage values of a battery block that are read periodically at a period of 250 ms, it is determined that the voltage of the battery block exceeds the protection voltage value of 4.32 V (or setting voltage value of 4.30 V) so that a target value of charging current is reduced to 0.1 C (or reduced to a value smaller than the currently-set target value) at the first determination. Every when it is detected that the voltage value exceeds the setting voltage value, the target value is reduced at a predetermined reduction rate. As a result, charging current is exponentially reduced whereby keeping the charging operation. At the second determination where the voltage of the battery block exceeds the protection voltage, a circuit breaker cuts off the charging current.
