    摘要: Approaches herein provide a torch handle including a pneumatically controlled jaw operable to engage an electrode. In one approach, a system is provided for distributing gas within the torch handle, the system including a pneumatic cylinder within a main housing of the torch handle. The pneumatic cylinder is coupled to a shaft for actuating first and second members of the jaw. The system further includes a gas passageway through the main housing, the gas passageway extending to an exit orifice disposed within the second member. A flow controller, including first and second valves, is operable to direct a flow of a gas to either the pneumatic cylinder or the gas passageway. In one approach, the first member is actuated towards the second member when the gas is directed through the gas passageway, and actuated away from the second member when the gas is directed to the pneumatic cylinder.

    摘要: A torch with integral flashback arrestor and thermal shut-off device is provided. In one approach, a torch body includes a passageway of the torch body, and a cartridge assembly disposed within the passageway. The cartridge assembly may include at least one of: a resettable pressure-sensitive device, and a thermal shut-off device, wherein the pressure-sensitive device and the thermal shut-off device are modifiable from a first configuration to a second configuration in response to a pressure or temperature gradient in the torch body, and wherein the second configuration restricts flow through the passageway. The cartridge may further include a check valve disposed along the passageway, for example, within a bore of a bushing, or within a retainer coupled to the torch body at an inlet of the passageway.

    摘要: Approaches herein provide a system for determining whether a consumable part of a plasma device has been removed or replaced while the plasma device and associated sensors lie dormant or are no longer receiving data, e.g., when the plasma device is power-off. The approaches herein determine whether certain types of data stored in a controller's memory are still valid, for example, for the purposes of determining degradation and/or end-of-life of the consumable parts. In the case that one or more consumable parts has been serviced or replaced, the data stored in the controller memory may no longer be considered valid for the consumable set. In one approach, the controller determines a status of an indicator in the device following start-up, and determines, based on the status of the indicator, whether the consumable part has been removed or replaced.

The nozzle insert includes an internal gas diverter. A contact tip is disposed within the nozzle assembly and includes at least one aperture extending from an exterior portion to an internal cavity, an exit orifice, a distal end face, and an exterior surface extending between the at least one aperture and the distal end portion of the contact tip. The internal gas diverter directs a flow of shield gas exiting the at least one aperture along the exterior surface of the contact tip, and a principal distance from the at least one aperture to the distal end face is varied to adjust the flow of the shield gas for improved cooling.
