In order to effect feedback of hydrogen (2) with minimum power consumption, it is provided that the discharge-pressure control unit (34) is opened for periodically discharging the mixture (28), and that the mixture (28) is conveyed into the reservoir (30) via the discharge line (29), with the pressure prevailing in the reservoir (30) being adapted to that in the feed means of hydrogen (2), whereupon the discharge-pressure control unit (34) will be closed and the feed-pressure control unit (33) and a feedback-pressure control unit (37) will be controlled such that the pressure prevailing in the reservoir (30) will be changed due to the own pressure consumption of the anode (4) until a desired value (41) will be reached for the pressure in the reservoir (30) and/or a preset threshold value for the pressure in the anode (4) will be reached, whereupon the feedback-pressure control unit (37) and the feed-pressure control unit (33) will be controlled such that the pressure in the anode (4) will be adapted to a preset desired value (40).
