    摘要: The disclosure relates to a training apparatus for increasing core body strength and balance and for providing a repetitive pitching motion exercise for baseball pitchers. The training apparatus comprises a frame structure having a pair of laterally spaced base members for bracing the apparatus on the floor. Each base member is attached to an upright support member that are attached at the top by a lateral connector. A balance pulley is attached to the lateral connector and a balance cord is threaded through the balance pulley. The balance cord has a ball attached to one end and a foot strap attached to the opposite end, such that a user of the apparatus attaches the balance cord foot strap to the non-pivot foot of the user, grabs and extends the ball simulating a throwing motion involving the forward extension of the arm and the forward leaning of the upper body thereby placing the balance cord in tension and lifting the users non-pivot foot and leg upwards towards the balance pulley, thereby forcing the user into a prototypical pitching form. Through repetition, the user strengthens the core muscles, improves balance and increases muscle memory, all in a manner that trains the user to consistently achieve the prototypical pitching form.

    摘要: A curling iron provided with an infrared radiation source within a hollow barrel for radiating infrared radiation within a predetermined band. The barrel is substantially transparent to radiation within the band emitted by the source. The curling iron is provided with a hair clip for retaining hair wound about the barrel, the clip also being substantially transparent to this infrared band. A fan is provided for blowing cooling air past the infrared source and through the barrel, the tip of the barrel being sufficiently perforated to pass this cooling air. The curling iron is further provided with a circuit for energizing the infrared source in a predetermined cyclical manner in order to maintain the temperature of the barrel within a predetermined range. A temperature sensor is further provided to sense the temperature of the barrel in order to activate the control circuit accordingly.

    摘要: A disturbance locating system deployed within a power grid to estimate a location of a disturbance in a power system includes a voltage transducer, a current transducer and disturbance energy determination circuitry. The system may also include disturbance power determination circuitry. The voltage transducer couples to an output of a voltage transformer, the output of the voltage transformer representative of a voltage on a line within the power grid. The current transducer couples to an output of a current transformer, the output of the current transformer representative of the current flowing through the line, the output having a forward reference direction and a behind reference direction. The voltage and current transformers may be hard wired to the line. The disturbance energy determination circuitry couples to the voltage transducer and the current transducer. Based upon the inputs received, the disturbance energy determination circuitry determines disturbance energy flowing in the line and estimates a direction of disturbance energy flow with respect to the system as either in front of or behind of the disturbance locating system. The disturbance energy determination circuitry may include disturbance power determination circuitry that couples to the voltage transducer and the current transducer. In such case, the disturbance power is provided to the disturbance energy determination circuitry for estimating a relative direction to the disturbance.

    摘要: A shear is disclosed in a preferred form which is particularly suited for cutting and trimming hair and which includes means for varying the length of stroke of the cutting blade or blades which reciprocate generally parallel to the longitudinal axis of the handle, so that the unit can be manipulated in a manner similar to a comb or brush. The blade drive includes a transmission comprising a pair of eccentrics which are selectively phaseable to provide full range of stroke by addition and subtraction of their eccentric throws. The eccentrics are retained in their selected phase relationship by spring and frictional means which provide an overload release permitting the eccentrics to rephase to zero stroke when the imposed load overcomes the phase-retaining means. Control of the unit is effected by a rotatable and depressable button which controls the drive motor, adjusts the blade stroke by phasing of the eccentrics, and lowers the cutting blade or blades from a retracted position into a cutting position.
