摘要： A refrigerator includes a compressor, a condenser, an expansion unit, an evaporator for evaporating a refrigerant that has passed through the expansion unit, a heating unit for providing heat for defrosting the evaporator, a photographing device provided at one side of the evaporator and disposed to photograph the evaporator, so as to sense the amount of frost on the evaporator, the photographing device including a photographing unit for photographing frost on the evaporator and the surrounding background, and a control unit configured to determine the amount of frost on the evaporator from an image taken by the photographing device by acquiring pixel values which are proportionate to the amount of frost on the evaporator by applying image processing which includes binarization that separates the frost from other acquired images to determine the amount of frost on the evaporator, the control unit further configured to control the heating unit to operate when the amount of frost exceeds a predetermined amount.

摘要： The refrigerator of the present invention comprises: a refrigeration cycle composed of a compressor, a condenser and an expansion unit; an evaporator for evaporating a refrigerant which passes through the expansion unit; a heating unit for providing the heat for defrosting the evaporator; and a frost sensor unit which is provided at one side of the evaporator for sensing the amount of frost on the evaporator, and is characterized in that an operation of the frost sensor unit is started on the basis of whether operation conditions of the frost sensor unit are recognized and the heating unit selectively generates the heat according to the sensed result of the frost sensor unit. According to one embodiment of the present invention, the amount of frost on the evaporator is easily determined by the operation of the frost sensor unit and the evaporator is effectively defrosted according to the amount of frost determined thereby.

摘要： The present invention relates to refrigerators, and more particularly, to a refrigerator which can measure an amount of frost on an evaporator in real time and determine a frost removing time; and a method for controlling the same.The refrigerator includes a body having at least one storage space for low temperature storage, a compressor in the body for compressing refrigerant, an evaporator for making heat exchange between the refrigerant from the compressor and air in the storage space, a frost removal heater for removing frost from the evaporator, an optical sensor having a light emitting unit for directing a light to the evaporator and a light receiving unit for receiving the light from the light emitting unit, and a control unit for controlling operation of the frost removal heater with reference to a quantity of the light received at the light receiving unit.
