摘要: A CPU 113 executes a control program stored in a memory 116 thereby forming a plurality of patch images with a developing bias increased for each of the patch images; detecting a density of each of the patch images by means of a patch sensor 17; and comparing the image densities to determine whether the image density is saturated or not. Then, an image forming condition in which an image density is substantially saturated is determined and is stored in the memory 116. When a print command signal is inputted from an external device via a main controller 100, a printing operation is performed under the image forming condition stored in the memory 116.

摘要: The technique of the present invention reads information, such as a use start date of a color laser printer, a cartridge detachment date, a total number of cartridges, used, a total consumption of toners, a total number of prints, and temperatures and humidities at an installation location, from a storage element of a toner cartridge, which has been attached to and detached from the color laser printer. When either the temperature or the humidity at the installation location is out of its normal service range, the technique modifies conditional values and determines whether immediate replacement of the main unit or each component of the color laser printer is required. When it is determined that immediate replacement is not required, the technique estimates a replacement timing of the main unit or the component, based on the above pieces of information.

摘要: In an image forming apparatus, a resistant layer of each writing electrode is formed substantially in a semi-circular convex shape projecting upwardly. The top of the resistant layer is a spherical surface so that the resistant layer is in point contact with the charged layer of the latent image carrier. Because of point contacts, foreign matters adhering to the surface of the latent image carrier are easily allowed to pass, thereby preventing the occurrence of filming on the surface of the latent image carrier.

摘要: In an image forming apparatus of the present invention, a plurality of writing electrodes are supported by an elastic and flexible substrate such that the writing electrodes are aligned in a plurality of rows each extending in the axial direction of the latent image carrier (in the main scanning direction). The writing electrodes are each formed in, for example, a triangle and alternately inverted. In this case, one end of a writing electrode is overlapped with a next writing electrode, as seen in the direction perpendicular to the axial direction of the latent image carrier (the rotational direction of the latent image carrier; the feeding direction). Therefore, this design prevents occurrence of image defect due to linear stains and allows foreign matters adhering to the surface of the latent image carrier to pass through spaces between the adjacent writing electrodes.

摘要: Writing electrodes of a writing device are kept in contact with a latent image carrier with a small pressing force by a weak restoring force of a substrate. An electrostatic latent image is written on the latent image carrier by applying or removing charge relative to the latent image carrier which is already uniformly charged by a charge control device. The application or removal of charge is conducted via charge-transfer between the latent image carrier and the writing electrodes which are in contact with each other. The electrostatic latent image is developed by a developing device to form a developing powder image and this developing powder image is transferred to a receiving medium such as a paper by a transferring device. Since the writing electrodes are employed as the writing device, the apparatus can be manufactured smaller and simply and can steadily write an image.

摘要: A developing device having a toner carrier for feeding a toner through pressure contact with a latent image carrier on which an electrostatic latent image pattern has been formed. The toner carrier comprises a foam member having a foam portion and a solid surface layer portion. The foam portion and the solid surface layer portion comprise an identical material and are continuous with each other substantially without the presence of any interface therebetween. The foam member has a density gradient in the direction of the thickness. The developing device of the present invention enables soft pressure contact development to be stably conducted, has advantageously low production and operation cost, and can form an image having a high resolution without a significant variation in the density.

摘要: A photoconductive image forming method and apparatus in which a latent image is formed on an image forming substrate. A one component toner is charged and an electrostatic force adheres the toner to a toner transporting device. The toner is carried and transferred to the image forming substrate by a toner transporting device and the picture image is transferred to a medium. Conductive members adjacent the toner transporting device control the thickness of the toner thereon and cooperate to charge the toner. In an alternate embodiment, more than one toner transporting device each containing a colored toner is used. A multicolored image is formed by transferring each color individually to the medium.
