Abstract: A support core for an elastic sleeve comprises a first cylindrical section disengagably connected to a second cylindrical section. Each cylindrical section has an annular sidewall made up of a plurality of interlocking concave plates extending longitudinally along a portion of the support core between a abutment end and a distal end. The abutment end of each cylinder section includes a generally helical edge. The plurality of concave plates comprises a top and bottom surfaces, having two opposing longitudinal edges extending between said surfaces on opposite sides of the concave plate. Each of the longitudinal edges comprises an interlocking feature that configure to connect to a mating feature of at least one other concave plate to form one of cylindrical sections of the support core.

Abstract: An assembly for covering at least a portion of a cable, such as an electric cable, comprises an elastomeric tube and a hybrid support core structure. The hybrid core structure includes a central core structure formed from a spirally wound separable ribbon that supports a central portion of the elastomeric tube in a radially expanded state, and first and second solid end core structures that support first and second end portions of the elastomeric tube in a radially expanded state. Each solid end core structure has a film disposed on at least an inner surface thereof having a coefficient of friction less than or equal to 0.05.

Abstract: A tubular stress control article having an axial bore with a length comprises a first and innermost layer formed from an electrical stress control composition having a filler material comprising nanosilica-modified inorganic particles and a discontinuous arrangement of conductive material dispersed in an elastomeric material. At least a portion of the conductive material is in durable electrical contact with the inorganic particles. The article further comprises a second layer disposed on the first layer, the second layer comprising an electrical insulation material. The article also comprises a third layer disposed on the second layer, the third layer comprising an elastomeric stress control material. The article further comprises a fourth layer disposed on the third layer, the fourth layer comprising a track-resistant elastomeric material. Each of the first, second, third, and fourth layers are substantially continuous along the length of the axial bore.
