Abstract: The present disclosure provides a thermal runaway protection film for a lithium ion battery, the film having a first major surface and a second major surface opposing the first major surface, the film comprising at least one protection layer comprising (a) at least one silicone and (b) at least one silicate and/or silicon oxide mineral filler compound in an amount of at least 40 wt.-%, based on the total weight of the at least one protection layer, and at least one adhesive layer, wherein at least one major surface exhibits adhesive properties and wherein the at least one adhesive layer represents the at least one major surface exhibiting adhesive properties.
