Abstract: A filter system and method for filtering. The filter system (SJ) having at least two filters (S1, S2) having filter elements for filtering a material to be filtered. The material to be filtered is conducted to a dirty side (LP) of the filter and filtered material is conducted out from a clean side (PP) of the filter. A clogged filter is washed by counterflow washing in which the filtered material is conducted from the clean side of one filter to the clean side of another filter.
