Abstract: An airfoil extension for a wing of an aircraft, the airfoil extension including an upper surface wall and a lower surface wall, the upper surface wall and the lower surface wall defining between them a profile of the airfoil extension. A structural reinforcement is disposed along the leading edge of the airfoil extension. The profile of the airfoil is configured to be modified in response to flight conditions (e.g., aerodynamic pressures acting on the upper surface wall and the lower surface wall) experienced by, on, and/or at the airfoil extension.
