Abstract: A display device includes a display panel having an illumination portion and a non-illumination portion, and an illumination member, disposed adjacent to a rear surface of the display panel, for illuminating the illumination portion. The display panel includes a light-transmissive base and a light-transmissive smoke layer disposed on a rear surface of the base adjacent to the illumination member. The display panel further includes a light-shielding color layer disposed on a principal surface of the smoke layer adjacent to the illumination member. The color layer has an opening for defining the illumination portion.
