Abstract:
A process for the conversion of A type prostaglandins to E type prostaglandins is disclosed. Heretofore unknown prostaglandin derivatives are utilized as intermediates in the process.
Abstract:
Reduction of 7-(2-((3R)-3-hydroxy-1-octenyl)-5-oxo-3cyclopenten-1-yl)-5-heptenoic acid, and its methyl ester, acetate by fungi of the genera Corynespora is disclosed. The product 7(2-((3R)-3-hydroxy-1-octenyl)-5-oxo-cyclopentyl)-5-heptenoic acid(11-deoxy-15-epi-PGE2), which is novel, is useful as an intermediate for the synthesis of other physiologically active prostaglandins.
