Abstract: Disclosed herein is are methods of preventing, reducing or inhibiting a viral or immune disorder, comprising administering to a subject at risk or that has acquired a viral or immune disorder an effective amount of a composition comprising a polypeptide derived from a reactive center loop of a serine protease inhibitor or a biologically active variant thereof, wherein the subject has not been administered antibiotics within at least one day of administering the composition. Also disclosed are compositions and kits for preventing, reducing or inhibiting a viral or immune disorder.
