Abstract: An apparatus of an Access and Mobility Function (AMF) comprises one or more baseband processors to process a request from a new AMF for a user equipment (UE) context transfer for a UE registered to the AMF via a first access type, wherein UE context transfer request includes an indication of a second access type for the UE to register with the new AMF, and to determine whether an entire UE context should be returned to the new AMF based on the second access type. The apparatus can include a memory to store the request.

Abstract: Briefly, in accordance with one or more embodiments, a user equipment (UE) may enter into an E-UTRAN Routing Area Paging Channel state, and is configured with an E-UTRAN Routing Area and an Anchor identifier to identify an anchor evolved Node B (eNB) for the UE. The UE selects to a new cell without performing a handover procedure, and performs a cell update procedure. The UE selects to a new cell, performs a cell update procedure, performs a buffer request procedure, and performs a cell update procedure to download buffered data and to perform data transmission with the new cell.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and storage media are described for the utilization of user equipment (UE) identifiers for registration in fifth generation (5G) systems. An apparatus of a user equipment includes processing circuitry to: retrieve a first 5G-GUTI from a memory; generate a registration request message that includes the first 5G-GUTI; encode the registration request message for transmission to a fifth-generation core (5GC) network of a second PLMN; receive a registration accept message that includes a second 5G-GUTI; and access the second PLMN using the second 5G-GUTI.
