Abstract: A user equipment (UE) supports an independent measurement gap configuration. The UE transmits an indication to a currently camped cell indicating that the UE supports an independent measurement gap configuration for new radio in an unlicensed spectrum (NR-U), receives measurement gap configuration information from the currently camped cell, configures a measurement gap pattern based on the measurement gap configuration information and receives a signal from a cell during a measurement gap of the measurement gap pattern.
