Abstract: A method for the treatment of ferrous scrap 1 including magnetic and non-magnetic materials, the method including at least a friction step 110 wherein the ferrous scrap is subjected to a mechanical friction to obtain cleaned scrap 11 and a magnetic sorting step 120 wherein the cleaned scrap 11 is separated into a non-magnetic coarse fraction 12A and a magnetic coarse fraction 12B. An associated steelmaking method and plant is also provided.
