Abstract: A display device and a driving method thereof are disclosed. The display device comprises: an array substrate, an opposite substrate and a liquid crystal layer; the display device includes sub-pixel areas including a shading area and a light-transmitting area; the sub-pixel area includes an electrode structure and a first shading part, and the electrode structure includes: first electrodes, second electrodes and third electrodes; the first electrodes are divided into first type electrodes and second type electrodes; the electrode structure is configured to: apply the same voltage to the first type electrode, the second electrode and the third electrode, apply different voltages to the first type electrode and the second type electrode to control liquid crystal molecules to form a liquid crystal lens; or apply different voltages to the second electrode and the third electrode to control the liquid crystal molecules to form a liquid crystal grating.
