Abstract: A ballistic vest having ballistic members which are positioned in the front and rear of the torso of a person each member having a plurality of layers of alternately spaced woven fabric sheets of (1) ballistic nylon fiber and (2) aramid fiber. The members are contained within envelopes which are fastened together so as to be draped over the shoulders of the wearer and held in position around the torso by means of a plurality of straps.
