    Abstract: System and method for calculating a pre-plot for a marine seismic acquisition system. The method includes receiving as input a first number of autonomous underwater vehicles (AUVs) and a second number of source vessels; receiving a geometry of an area to be surveyed; receiving a set of naturally different regions and/or humanly set targets for the area to be surveyed; calculating a first sailing path for an AUV of the first number of AUVs; calculating a second sailing path for a source vessel of the second number of source vessels, based on the set of naturally different regions and/or humanly set targets; and entering the pre-plot into a navigation system of the AUV and the source vessel so that the AUV and source vessel dynamically change an offset distance between them, while sailing during a seismic survey, based on the naturally different regions and/or humanly set targets.

    Abstract: A multi-vessel seismic data acquisition system having a first vessel towing a streamer containing a plurality of seismic receivers and a pair of seismic sources along a first shot line. At least one additional vessel tows only a single seismic source. Each additional single seismic source is spaced from the pair of seismic sources an offset distance in at least one of an inline direction and a crossline direction to the first shot line to define a first bin grid having a first bin size for the first vessel and a second bin grid having a second bin size for each additional vessel.
