Abstract: The invention relates to the treatment of wastewater on an offshore hydrocarbon producing rig, where the wastewater is from a variety of sources and has variable content but always includes both oil and particulates. A cross flow membrane filter removes oil whilst dead end type pre-filters are provided to remove particulates which would otherwise quickly erode the membrane filter.
