Abstract:
A kingpin assembly for pivotally supporting a steering knuckle of a steering linkage assembly is disclosed herein. The kingpin assembly includes a pin and a bearing mount assembly. The pin includes a shoulder disposed between a first tapered portion and a second tapered portion. The first tapered portion is structured and arranged for load bearing and is in engagement with the steering knuckle. The second tapered portion is in reverse taper configuration relative to the first tapered portion, measured axially along the pin. The bearing mount assembly has a first bearing half and a second bearing half. The first and second bearing halves sandwiches the second tapered portion for retention thereof. Each of the first and second bearing halves is in engagement with the steering knuckle.
Abstract:
A front suspension for a front axle of a tractor of an articulated vehicle may include an upper suspension link having an axle center mounting arm pivotally connected proximate a top side of the front axle at the axial center of the front axle, and first and second frame mounting arms extending rearward and pivotally connected to a tractor frame of the tractor. The frame mounting arms may be positioned symmetrically with respect to the axial center of the front axle. The front suspension may further include first and second lower support links pivotally connected proximate a bottom side of the front axle, extending rearward from the front axle, and pivotally connected to the tractor frame. The lower support links may be positioned symmetrically with respect to the axial center of the front axle.

Abstract:
A space frame for a machine is disclosed. The space frame may have a first end configured to be connected to front wheels of the machine. The space frame may also have a second end configured to be connected to rear wheels of the machine. Further, the space frame may have primary structural members arranged substantially lengthwise between the first end and the second end. In addition, the space frame may have secondary structural members connected between the primary structural members to form substantially triangulated structures allowing the space frame to support a payload to empty vehicle weight ratio ranging from about 1.2:1 to 2:1.
