Abstract: A cutting component for a machine including a moldboard with a first end and an adapter plate with an adapter slot mounted to the moldboard proximate the first end. The cutting component can include body portion and a fastening portion that extends from the body portion. The fastener portion is shaped to slidably mate with the adapter slot of the adapter plate. The fastening portion can be shaped with a first portion located at the interface between the body portion and the fastening portion, and a second portion located further from the body portion than the first portion and shaped wider than the first portion. The difference in width between the first portion and second portion, allows the cutting component engage with the adapter plate from within in the adapter slot and resist to resist working loads with material during operation of the machine.

Abstract: A cutting edge for a machine. The cutting edge includes a first layer formed of a first material and forming a front surface configured to engage a working material. The cutting edge further including a second layer that extends from the first layer and away from the front surface. The second layer formed of a second material harder than the first material to improve overall wear resistance of the cutting edge.
