摘要: A method and system for routing data in a wireless network (400) that enables all nodes (106, 402, 404, 406, 408) to find routes to each other even if the nodes are incapable of operating as a router to route packets received from other nodes (106, 402, 404, 406, 408). The meshed nodes (106, 402) which are capable of performing packet routing act as proxy nodes for their associated non-meshed nodes (STA 13-STA 15) to route packets from their associated non-meshed nodes (STA 13-STA 15) to destination nodes. Some of the meshed nodes further operate as intelligent access points (106) to provide the non-meshed nodes and other meshed nodes with access to other networks, such as the Internet (402).

摘要: A method for switching the use of an access point (AP) in a wireless communication network without explicitly updating a proxy address resolution protocol (ARP) cache (200) includes first providing a communication between a network node (111) and a first access point (107) utilizing a first proxy ARP cache. The communication is then switched from the first access point (107) to a second access point (109) utilizing a second proxy ARP cache. In order to reduce messaging traffic in the wireless communications network, any future inquiries regarding the address of the network node (111′) continue to be serviced by the first access point (107) and its first proxy ARP cache.

摘要: A method and system for routing data in a wireless network (400) that enables all nodes (106, 402, 404, 406, 408) to find routes to each other even if the nodes (106, 402, 404, 406, 408) are non-meshed which are incapable of operating as a router to route packets received from other nodes (106, 402, 404, 406, 408), and for associating and reassociating the non-meshed and meshed nodes with other meshed nodes (106, 402, 404, 406, 408). The non-meshed nodes (STA 13-STA 15) request association with one of the meshed nodes (AP5) which are capable of performing packet routing, to request that the meshed node (AP5) with which the non-meshed node (STA 13) is associating operate as a proxy node to route packets between the associated non-meshed node (STA 13) and other meshed or non-meshed nodes (106, 402, 404, 406, 408). Some of the meshed nodes (106) further operate as intelligent access points (106) to provide the non-meshed nodes (STA 13-STA 15) and other meshed nodes (402) with access to other networks, such as the Internet (402), as well as to effect the association and reassociation of the non-meshed and meshed nodes (106, 402, 404, 406, 408).

摘要: A combined media holder and storage device including an outer frame section and an inner media support section. The outer frame section is adapted to be removably mounted to a media library. The media library includes a drive to read and write information on media, a mover to move the media to and from the drive, and a plurality of magazine receiving areas. The outer frame section is adapted to be removably inserted into one of the magazine receiving areas. The inner media support section includes a plurality of media receiving areas adapted to receive and separately individually support a plurality of pieces of recording media. The combined media holder and storage device has a substantially open front end and is closed except at the substantially open front end. The outer frame section is adapted to receive a cover for closing the substantially open front end.

摘要: A first time division multiplex (TDM) time slot is provided which is defined as a bi-directional channel for use in a TDM network including a source node and a destination node. The source node can transmit data to the destination node in a first portion of a first TDM time slot. In one implementation, a second portion of the same first TDM time slot can be reserved for the destination node to transmit information to the source node. For example, the destination node can determine whether the data from the source node has arrived properly, and then transmit an indication message to the source node in the second portion of the same first TDM time slot to indicate whether the data from the source node has arrived properly at the destination node.

摘要: A method is employed by a central controller of a radio communications system, which method provides for sustaining a predetermined level of communication service. The system includes a plurality of voice channels which are allocated among a plurality of subscribers (108-112) using a first control channel (102). In a preferred embodiment, at least one of the voice channels (104, 106) is also control-capable. The method includes evaluating (502) a current loading condition, and comparing (504) this loading condition with an upper loading threshold. Where appropriate, the controller assigns (506) one of the control-capable voice channels as a temporary control channel.
