Abstract: A method is described for determining subsurface earth properties using a full waveform inversion that solves the problem of cycle skipping. The method uses cross-correlation, time shifting, and decorrelation as part of the full waveform inversion to find the data residual that is inverted to calculate the model residual. The method is executed by a computer system.
