Abstract:
An apparatus for use in controlling a simulated target position in a millimeter wave, hardware-in-the-loop system includes a pair of horns and a conditioning circuit. The conditioning circuit is capable of generating a pair of output millimeter wave signals, each to be broadcast from a respective one of the horns, the output millimeter wave signals being out of phase by a predetermined amount, and capable of attenuating at least one of the output millimeter wave signals to control the position of the simulated target in a first and a second region. A method for use in controlling a simulated target position in a millimeter wave, hardware-in-the-loop system includes generating a pair of output millimeter wave signals that are out of phase by a predetermined amount; attenuating at least one of the output millimeter wave signals to control the position of the simulated target in a first and a second region; and broadcasting the millimeter wave signals. The method and apparatus can be extended to four horns arranged in a quad configuration to control position in two dimensions and can be extended to a test array comprising a plurality of horn pairs and horn quads.
Abstract:
The invention includes, in its various aspects and embodiments, a method and apparatus for detecting cross-eye jamming. In some embodiments, the invention includes mitigating cross-eye jamming once its presence is detected.
Abstract:
An antenna system includes a plurality of transmit elements spaced apart by a first dimension and a plurality of receive elements spaced apart by a second dimension, such that the first dimension is a non-integer multiple of the second dimension and the second dimension is a non-integer multiple of the first dimension. A method includes transmitting a signal from a plurality of transmit elements spaced apart by a first dimension and receiving a portion of the transmitted signal reflected from an object via a plurality of receive elements spaced apart by a second dimension, such that the first dimension is a non-integer multiple of the first dimension and second dimension is a non-integer multiple of the first dimension.
Abstract:
A millimeter wave electronically scanned antenna is disclosed in both passive and active implementations. The antenna comprises a plurality of antenna components, wherein an antenna component, includes a coupler; a ground plane; a traveling wave phase shift line electrically connected to the coupler and grounded to the ground plane; and a plurality of fixed phase shifters, each fixed phase shifter electrically connected to the traveling wave phase shift line at a respective point thereon. One such component includes a plurality of radiating elements electromagnetically connected to a respective one of the fixed phase shifters. The antenna further includes a coupling component to which the radiating antenna is coupled to receive control signals and a radio frequency feed.
