    Abstract: A control valve includes a valve body and a flow control device having a wall extending around a central axis. A plurality of flow control channels are formed in the wall, with each flow control channel extending in a first direction substantially parallel to the central axis and a second direction substantially perpendicular to the central axis toward an inner surface and terminating between an outer surface and the inner surface at an inner channel surface. A valve plug is moveable relative to the flow control device in a direction substantially parallel to the central axis between a closed position and an open position. In the closed position, the valve plug covers the plurality of flow control channels, and as the valve plug transitions from the closed position toward the open position, the plurality of flow control channels become exposed to receive fluid flow.
