Abstract: An optical attachment feature of a light-emitting diode (LED) lighting system includes an enclosure, a trim, a reflector, and a diffuser. The enclosure can include an enclosure wall forming a cavity and an enclosure collar having a first profile. The trim can include a trim collar that abuts to the enclosure collar, wherein the trim collar has a second profile. The reflector can include an outer surface, an inner surface having reflective material disposed thereon, and a reflector collar having a first optical attachment mechanism. The diffuser can include a diffuser collar, where the diffuser collar can include a second optical attachment mechanism and a third optical attachment mechanism, where the second optical attachment mechanism can couple to the first optical attachment mechanism, and where the third optical attachment mechanism is disposed within a feature formed by the first profile and the second profile when the enclosure collar is mechanically coupled to the trim collar.

Abstract: A light emitting diode (LED) lighting system includes an enclosure, a trim, and at least one attachment mechanism. The enclosure can include at least one heat-generating device and an enclosure collar, where the enclosure is made of a first thermally conductive material. The trim can include a trim collar and at least one wall that defines a passage, where the trim collar abuts the enclosure collar, and where the passage has a reflector and a LED is disposed therein. The least one attachment mechanism can removably couple the trim collar to the enclosure collar, where the at least one attachment mechanism includes a back plate that is mechanically coupled to an upper flange and a lower flange, where the upper flange contacts the enclosure collar and the lower flange contacts the trim collar.

Abstract: A lighting system includes an array of domed light emitting diodes covering a surface area of a substrate and two optics for processing emitted light. The first optic includes an inner surface facing the array and an exterior surface facing away from the array. The second optic includes grooves extending away from the array. The inner surface of the first optic can form a cavity that is large relative to the array. For example, the cavity can have a volume exceeding the volume of a cube, where each side of the cube has the surface area of the array.

Abstract: A motion sensor includes a sensor element to sense a motion, and a controller communicably coupled to the sensor element. The controller is configured to set a detection sensitivity of the motion sensor to a maximum setting of the detection sensitivity. The controller is further configured to decrease the detection sensitivity of the motion sensor upon a detection of the motion until the motion is undetectable by the motion sensor at a decreased setting of the detection sensitivity. The controller is further configured to increase the detection sensitivity of the motion sensor until the motion sensor detects the motion at an increased setting of the detection sensitivity and to set the detection sensitivity of the motion sensor to a new setting based on the increased setting.
