    摘要: A touch-screen assembly for performing pressure sensing or force sensing is disclosed. The touch-screen assembly includes a cover sheet having touch-sensing capability and a frame having an upper surface portion. Spaced-apart adhesive islands are disposed between the cover sheet and the upper surface portion of the frame. The adhesive islands serve to secure the cover sheet to the frame and have a Young's modulus of greater than 1 MPa so that the energy associated with the touching force is not absorbed by the adhesive island. This makes for more accurate pressure-based or force-based touch sensing.

    摘要: A touch screen system configured to detect a displacement of a cover sheet when pressure or force is applied to the cover sheet upper surface. A light source and photodetector are configured to be in optical communication by reflection of light from the light source from the lower surface of the cover sheet. A displacement of the coversheet changes the amount of reflected light that falls upon the detector. The detector signal can be used to measure the amount of displacement, as well as the time-evolution of the displacement. The touch-screen system can be interfaced with a touch-sensitive display unit to form a display system having both pressure-sensing capability and touch-sensing capability.

    摘要: Cantilevered displacement sensors with enhanced displacement sensitivity and methods of determining touching forces for multiple touch locations are disclosed. The cantilevered displacement sensors support the touch screen adjacent a touch screen perimeter. A displacement of the touch screen is amplified by a cantilevered member that extends over a proximity sensor. Touching forces at multiple touch locations are determining by performing a fit to the measured displacements based on the touch locations to obtain displacements at all positions of the touchscreen, then relating the displacement of the touch screen at the multiple touch locations to applied distributed loads at the respective multiple touch locations, and then multiplying the applied distributed loads by the corresponding touch-location area.
