    Abstract: The object of the present invention is to provide an electrode having high durability and lower manufacturing costs and a method for manufacturing the same. An electrode comprising a coating that contains a mixed metal oxide on a valve metal substrate with an intermediate layer therebetween that contains an alloy that contains a titanium component and a tantalum component, wherein the molar ratio of metal elements in the mixed metal oxide is 35 to 48% for the total of an iridium element and a ruthenium element, 45 to 60% of a tin element, and 3 to 9% of a tantalum element, and the molar ratio of the iridium element to the total of the iridium element and the ruthenium element in the mixed metal oxide is 32 to 60% inclusive.
