Abstract: A gas sensor includes a sensor element having a detecting portion; an insulator supporting the sensor element inserted therethrough; a housing supporting the insulator; an inner cover covering the detecting portion; and an outer cover covering the inner cover.An inner flange portion of the inner cover and the outer flange portion of the outer cover are supported between the insulator and the housing. An end face of the inner flange portion is positioned towards outer side R1 with respect to the radial direction R than the position of an end face of the outer flange portion. A corner portion between the end face and a surface in the outer flange portion protrudes into a surface of the inner flange portion.

Abstract: A gas sensor is provided with a sensor element having a detecting portion; an insulator supporting the sensor element in a state where the detecting portion is protruded therefrom, the sensor element being inserted through the insulator; a housing supporting the insulator; an inner cover covering the detecting portion; and an outer cover covering the inner cover.An inner flange portion of the inner cover and an outer flange portion of the outer cover are supported between the insulator and the housing. A protrusion is formed on a corner portion facing the insulator, the protrusion contacting with the insulator. An end face of the outer flange portion is positioned radially closer to an outer side with respect to a radial direction, than a position of an end face of the inner flange portion.

Abstract: The gas sensor includes a sensor element, a first insulator inside which the sensor element is inserted, a second insulator disposed on a proximal side of the first insulator so as to cover a proximal side of the sensor element, and a contact member held by the second insulator and sandwiching the sensor element. A proximal end portion of the first insulator and a distal end portion of the second insulator abut on each other in an axial direction. Each the proximal end portion and the distal end portion is provided with a positioning structure. The positioning structure is configured to restrict a relative movement between the first and second insulators in a sandwiching direction in which the sensor element is sandwiched by the contact member and in an orthogonal direction perpendicular to the sandwiching direction and in the axial direction.

Abstract: A gas sensor has a structure in which a sensor body is secured to a sensor-mounting member using an attachment screw. The gas sensor is capable of ensuring the stability of installation of a protective cover. The gas sensor includes the sensor body in which a sensor device is disposed and the cylindrical attachment screw disposed on an outer circumference of the sensor body to be rotatable. The gas sensor is secured to the sensor-mounting member which has an internal thread engaging the attachment screw and a bearing surface disposed on a front end side of the internal thread. The sensor body has a flange which protrudes outwardly on the front end side of the attachment screw. The flange held between the bearing surface of the sensor-mounting member and the attachment screw in the axial direction. A protective cover is secured to the attachment screw closer to the base end side than an external thread engaging the internal thread is. The protective cover covers an outer periphery of at least a portion of the sensor body which is closer to the base end side than the sensor-mounting member is.

Abstract: The gas sensor is equipped with a sensor device, a plurality of electrode springs contacting with electrodes and of the sensor device, an insulator retaining the electrode springs, and a plurality of leads connected to the respective electrode springs. Each of the electrode springs includes a retained portion retained by the insulator and a contact portion which is bent and inclined from the retained portion toward a front end side of the sensor device in the lengthwise direction. The contact portion is elastically deformed in contact with the electrode. Each of the electrode springs also includes a bent portion between the contact portion and the retained portion. The bent portion constitutes a base end of the contact portion and is oriented toward the base end side of the gas sensor in the lengthwise direction, thereby enabling the length of the sensor device to be decreased and improving the heat resistance of the electrode springs.
