    Abstract: Headphone system including two ear cups (105a, 105b), a headband assembly (110), an interface system (115) and a control system (120). Each ear cup (105a, 105b) includes an ear cup enclosure (205a, 205b), an ear pad assembly (207a, 207b), a speaker system (805) and a hinge assembly (700). The hinge assembly (700) is disposed within the ear cup enclosure (205a, 205b) such that it is not visible from outside the ear cup (105a, 105b). The headband (110) assembly connects with each of the ear cups (105a, 105b) via the hinge assembly (700). The interface system (115) includes at least one interface and a plurality of input source buttons (202, 204, 206) disposed on at least one of the ear cups (105a, 105b). Each of the input source buttons (202, 204, 206) is configured for selecting a source of audio data received via the at least one interface. The control system (120) is configured for controlling the speaker system (805) to reproduce audio data received via the interface and selected by one of the input source buttons (202, 204, 206).

    Abstract: A method of controlling headphones having external microphone signal pass-through functionality may involve controlling a display to present a geometric shape on the display and receiving an indication of digit motion from a sensor system associated with the display. The sensor system may include a touch sensor system or a gesture sensor system. The indication may be an indication of a direction of digit motion relative to the display. The method may involve controlling the display to present a sequence of images indicating that the geometric shape either enlarges or contracts, depending on the direction of digit motion and changing a headphone transparency setting according to a current size of the geometric shape. The headphone transparency setting may correspond to an external microphone signal gain setting and/or a media signal gain setting of the headphones.
