Abstract: A process for producing unsaturated polyester resins from conventionally employed unsaturated and optionally saturated dicarboxylic acids and polyhydric alcohols wherein the esterification catalyst employed is an alkali tetraphenylborate or a zirconate of 2-alkyl-1,3-hexanediol or 2,2-dialkyl-1,3hexanediol wherein the alkyl groups contain 1 to 4 carbon atoms.
