摘要:
Systems and methods are provided for creating, providing mechanisms for user interaction with, and utilizing a superactive document, including the providing of print and electronic versions of such superactive documents, and providing for processing of such superactive documents by computer-implemented processes of an enterprise. A container encapsulates operative components in a predetermined electronic file format. The container includes a compressed portion for storing predetermined portions of selected operative components. A content component represents document contents including text, graphics, controls, and sound. An interaction orchestration component displays a user document interaction interface when the document is processed by a compatible computer program. A control component controls user access to predetermined content components and utilization of predetermined interaction orchestration components. Instance data comprising predetermined information is obtained from interaction between a user and operations of an interaction orchestration component, an enterprise database, external databases, and asynchronous information sources.

A method of providing a combined interface-and-document includes simultaneously displaying a first instance of a document and an interview pane, wherein the interview pane is displayed via at least one of juxtaposing or superimposing the interview pane relative to the document. The method includes iteratively triggering transformation of the first instance of the document, to produce a second instance of the document, via user interaction received within the interview pane. The document is dynamically reflowed upon each iterative transformation of the document.

A method and system for providing distributed printing is disclosed. The method and system include providing a plurality of printers, at least one print spooler, and at least one relational database coupled with the print spooler. The print spooler(s) are for managing printing operations. The relational database(s) are coupled with the print spooler. The relational database also includes a plurality of tables that store a plurality of print objects.

A method for displaying a network topology begins by presenting a user a set of attributes for network objects in the network. The user the selects a given attribute and an attribute value. A mapper routine of the invention then builds a topology map that includes at least one icon representing network objects that have the user-selected attribute value for the attribute. This “group” icon preferably includes a numeric, textual or graphical representation to indicate the number of objects (or perhaps some given characteristic thereof) represented by the group icon.

A method, computer program product and print server for discovering printers connected to a print server. A print server may transmit a HyperText Transport Protocol (HTTP) request to every Internet Protocol (IP) address in a range of IP addresses. A response, e.g., a document such as a web page, may be received by the print server from one or more devices at one or more IP addresses in the range of IP addresses. The print server may identify one or more out of these devices that transmitted a response as printers based on analyzing the responses from the devices. The print server may obtain printer attribute information from the identified printers and update a database with the obtained printer attribute information.

A print job is preferably displayed using a visual job ticketing application. An operator is enabled to create multiple job tickets describing print parameters to be applied to the print job. Using the visual job ticketing application, the operator may select a previously created job ticket to be used to display and/or print the print job. Alterations made to the print job are automatically propagated across all associated print job tickets. When creating new print job tickets, the operator may choose to start with a blank job ticket, a default job ticket, the last active job ticket or any previously created job ticket.

A triology of methods to send, receive and execute are provided for JAVA process objects on client and server so that instance variables, rather than objects, can be transferred from/to client and server. In that manner, process objects at the server can be instantiated with instance variables from the client without object transfer. The system enables use of non-JAVA process objects at the server to perform functions at the request of a JAVA client.
