Abstract:
An air flow deflector for a windshield wiper includes a profiled portion joined to a means for attaching the deflector on a wiper blade or on a wiper arm. The deflector includes surfaces which obstruct the air flow. In addition, it includes guide means for the air flow. The invention is particularly applicable to windshield wiper systems for automotive vehicles.
Abstract:
A windshield wiper drive mechanism includes a crank driven by a motor shaft and having, towards the end of the crank remote from the motor shaft, a crank pin carrying an eccentric crank head piece on which a crosshead is pivoted. The head piece carries a latch which includes a latch finger movable under the action of a resilient member and arranged to leave the crank head piece free to move with respect to the crank when the latter is rotating in a first direction, but to prevent such relative rotation when the crank is rotating in the opposite direction. The latch finger includes a radial latch arm extending outwardly, while the crosshead has a recess for receiving the latch arm. The crank head piece has an opening for receiving the free end of the latch finger. The latch arm is so positioned, and is of such thickness, that, when the latch finger is engaged in the opening in the crank, the latch arm lies between the face to face surfaces of the crosshead and of the crank. The crank head piece is placed so as to face towards the crank.
Abstract:
A motor vehicle screen wiper blade comprises an articulated structure which carries, by means of a set of grips, a wiping strip of flexible material which it applies against the glass surface to be swept, so that the wiping strip follows the curvature of the latter. The grips grasp a longitudinal support or claw portion of the wiping strip, and the wiper blade includes at least one accessory such as a flexible aerodynamic deflector. The accessory includes at least one fastening lug for fastening it on the blade, this fastening lug being interposed between a grip of the latter and the claw portion of the wiping strip.
Abstract:
In a deflector for a windshield wiper including an arm on which a blade is pivoted, the deflector is carried by at least one of the elements comprising the arm and blade of the wiper, in such a way as to divert the air streams. In accordance with the invention, the deflector comprises a main section which is carried by at least one of the said elements of the windshield wiper, together with at least one lateral end portion which is movable with respect to the main section.
Abstract:
A screen wiper, in particular for a motor vehicle windshield, comprises: an elongate wiper blade having a flexible wiping strip for contact with a curved swept surface, the wiping strip being mounted on the blade in such a way that it can deform in one plane so as to follow the curvature of the swept surface; and an elongate flexible deflector which is so configured as to form a mask that tends to divert air streams so that, when the vehicle is travelling at high speeds, an aerodynamic force is exerted on the blade which tends to urge the flexible wiping strip into contact with the swept surface. The deflector is able to deform on the wiper blade, and its deformation is controlled by the flexible wiping strip itself. The wiper includes, in at least two points along the length of the wiper blade, means for transmitting to the deflector the deformation of the wiping strip, so that this latter deformation is reproduced in the deflector. The blade has first guide means, and the deflector has second guide means. These guide means are arranged to cooperate with each other in sliding movement in at least two points along the length of the wiper blade, so as to guide the deformation of the deflector.
Abstract:
The invention concerns a windscreen wiper for a motor vehicle, of the type having a windscreen wiper arm provided with an articulated structure which carries, by means of a series of claws, a wiper blade made of a flexible material, and of the type having a flexible aerodynamic deflector mounted on the arm, wherein the deflector has at least one clasp for fixing it onto the blade of the arm.
Abstract:
A motor vehicle screen wiper is of the type comprising a screen wiper blade having an articulated structure which carries, by means of a set of gripping elements, a wiping strip of flexible material. It also includes a flexible aerodynamic deflector mounted on the blade. The deflector includes at least one fastening lug which is fitted on to a gripping element of the articulated structure of the blade.
Abstract:
The invention is concerned mainly with a wiping strip for a windshield wiper blade, the strip comprising a base and a wiping element for wiping contact with a surface. The wiping element is articulated on the base through a web portion which is protected from deposits of mud, ice etc. by two wing portion which also improve the aerodynamic performance of the wiping strip. The invention is particularly applicable to equipment for automotive vehicles.

Abstract:
A windshield wiper apparatus comprises an arm carrying a blade. The latter comprises a mounting member carrying a wiping strip, the apparatus being adapted to be fitted with an air deflector. In accordance with the invention, the air deflector is carried by the arm or the blade, through at least two articulations. The invention is especially applicable to automotive vehicles.
