    摘要： A dimple configuration for the surface of a golf ball is provided by selecting a fixed number of dimples, placing said dimples on a model of the ball in random, helter-skelter locations on one selected section without regard to the other dimples present, and identifying each dimple and the adjacent dimples which overlap it. For each dimple so identified, the aggregate component of overlap in the longitudinal and latitudinal directions is determined, the center of each dimple is relocated so as to minimize overlap, and the steps of identifying, determining, and relocating are repeated for each dimple until the aggregate overlap is reduced to a predetermined amount. The resultant ball provides a random dimple configuration which has no repeating patterns within the sections.

    摘要： A golf ball is provided having a dimpled surface, the configuration of the dimples comprising a dimple-free equatorial line on the ball dividing the ball into two hemispheres, with each hemisphere having substantially identical dimple patterns. The dimple pattern of each hemisphere comprises a first plurality of dimples extending in at least two spaced clockwise arcs between the pole and the equator of each hemisphere, a second plurality of dimples extending in at least two spaced counterclockwise arcs between the pole and the equator of each hemisphere, and a third plurality of dimples substantially filling the surface area between the first and second plurality of dimples.

    摘要： A spherical ball and a method of making the spherical ball wherein the ball has a plurality of elongated dimples substantially covering the outer surface of the ball without any dimple overlap. The elongated dimples are of at least two types including a first plurality of dimples having a minor axis and a major axis which together form the long axis of the first plurality of dimples the minor axis being less than the major axis. A second plurality of dimples has a minor axis equal to that of the first plurality of dimples and a major axis less than the major axis of the first plurality of dimples but greater than the minor axis.
