Abstract:
Disclosed are a fusing unit capable of a variable fusing pressing force, a control method thereof and an image forming apparatus employing the same. The fusing pressing force may be selectively varied so as to apply a lesser force at the initial stage of the operation of the fusing unit, and may be increased to a desired level of force suitable for fusing operation so as to minimize excessive torque in a driving motor that rotationally drives the fusing device.
Abstract:
A heating device suitable for use in an image forming apparatus and a fixing apparatus having the same. The heating device comprises heating roller having a double-layered structure of a magnetic layer and a non-magnetic layer; a heat generation unit installed on the inner peripheral surface of the heating roller; a first insulation layer for insulating the heating roller and the heat generation unit; an internal tube installed on the inner peripheral surface of the heat generation unit so that the heat generation unit can be tightly contacted with the heating roller; and a second insulation layer for insulating the heat generation unit and the internal tube. The heating device can make the temperature of the heating roller equalized and maximize the power efficiency because the heating roller has a double-layered structure of a magnetic layer and a non-magnetic layer and the heat generation unit is tightly contacted with the heating roller. The inventive fixing apparatus is provided with such a heating device.
Abstract:
A fusing unit is formed along a printing path in an image forming apparatus and fuses an image transferred to a printing medium. The fusing unit includes: a heat source; a nip plate which is heated by the heat source, and comprises a nip part to heat and press the printing medium; and a reflection member to reflect heat generated by the heat source toward the nip part. A belt member is rotatably provided about the heat source, the nip plate and the reflection member, and guides the movement of the printing medium. A driving roller faces the nip part and rotatably drives the belt member. The nip plate and the driving roller form a fusing nip, which quickly heats and provides for quick fusing of a toner image to a printing medium.
Abstract:
An image fixing unit for use in an image forming apparatus for fixing a toner image on a printable medium is provided. The image fixing unit includes a heat roller in which a heater is mounted, a circulating belt tightly engaged with the heat roller and forming a nip through which a printable medium passes, a plurality of guide rollers supporting the circulating belt for rotation of the circulating belt, and bushings formed on both ends of each guide roller and having a regulating portion for preventing the circulating belt from meandering. Protrusions are formed on a surface of the bushings contacting the circulating belt to reduce a contact area between the circulating belt and the bushings. Therefore, the contact area between the traveling circulating belt and the bushings, which are fixed components of the guide rollers, is reduced and wear and tear of the circulating belt and a drive torque for driving the image fixing unit are also thus reduced.
