Abstract: Disclosed herein are the water clarification compositions and method of using the disclosed water clarification compositions for clarifying a water system or waste water source. Specifically, the disclosed compositions comprise and methods use multiple charged cationic or anionic compounds that are derived from polyamines through an aza-Michael addition with an activated olefin having an ionic group. The disclosed water clarification methods or compositions are found to be more effective than those methods or compositions including commonly used single quaternary compounds for reducing turbidity in water systems or waste water sources.

Abstract: Disclosed herein is a novel class of multiple charged cationic or anionic compounds that are derived from an aza-Michael Addition reaction between a polyamine (Michael donor) and an activated olefin (Michael acceptor), methods of making the same, and use thereof. Also disclosed herein are the methods of using multiple charged cationic or anionic compounds disclosed herein in a reverse emulsion breaker composition to break reverse emulsion commonly found in a produced fluid in oil and gas operations. The disclosed REB methods or compositions are found to be more effective than those methods or compositions including commonly used for oil/solid and water separation.

Abstract: Disclosed herein are the methods of using specific di-cationic or multiple charged cationic compounds, which are derived from primary amine or polyamines through an aza-Michael addition with an α, β-unsaturated carbonyl compound or from polyamines through both an aza-Michael addition with an α, β-unsaturated carbonyl compound and a ring-opening reaction with an epoxide, in a fouling control composition to reduce microbial and/biofilm growth in a water system. The disclosed methods or compositions are found to be more effective than those methods or compositions including commonly used single quaternary compounds for reducing microbial or biofilm growth in water systems.

Abstract: Disclosed here are the methods of using one or more multiple charged cationic compounds in a corrosion control composition to reduce corrosion of metal surfaces in a water system. The multiple charged cationic compounds are derived from polyamines through a ring-opening reaction with an epoxide or two reactions: an aza-Michael addition with an activated olefin having a cation group and a ring-opening reaction with an epoxide. The disclosed methods or compositions are found to be effective than those methods or compositions including commonly used corrosion inhibitors for water systems.

Abstract: Disclosed herein are the methods of using specific multiple charged cationic compounds, which are derived from polyamines through an aza-Michael addition with an α,β-unsaturated carbonyl compound, in a clay treatment composition to reduces clay swelling, clay migration, and sludge formation in a subterranean formation in oil and gas operations. The disclosed methods or compositions are found to be more effective than those methods or compositions including commonly used for reducing clay swelling, clay migration, and sludge formation.
