    摘要: An electromagnetically driven mechanical shutter including a conductor element in a magnetic field for enabling the element to be moved laterally between first and second predetermined positions as a function of the current through the element, means, associated with the element, for introducing current therethrough and stop means associated with the element and adjacent one or both of the positions for positively establishing one or both of the positions of the element. A plurality of such shutters may be included in a linear array which may be combined with a source of radiation to be gated by the shutters to expose a photosensitive material to be printed upon and further combined with photosensitive means for sensing radiation from an object carrying information to be read.

    摘要: A system for providing differently coded signals to represent respective different types of information such as the indicia and margin portions of a document. As a result of successive line scans of the document a sequence of message symbols is generated for each line scan in which each sequence is differently coded to respectively represent areas of different nature along the scan line. Typically the areas of different nature are margin and indicia portions of the document. The scanning of the margin areas of the document can be selectively controlled to minimize coding of areas of margin information.

    摘要: The disclosed circuit and method detect and delete certain pulse sequence patterns from a binary data stream. When used in a facsimile system to eliminate single pulses from a binary data stream derived by scanning graphic information on a document, the resolution of the scanning system and the size of the graphic information areas being such that two or more pulses in the binary data stream are required to represent the minimum normal elemental area of graphic information, the invention both reduces appreciably the number of pulse sequences required to be communicated and also helps to eliminate isolated noise marks from the facsimile copy.

    摘要: The disclosed light pen has a high resolution state and a low resolution state, either of which may be quickly and easily selected. When used to define locations on a cathode-ray tube display device, the low resolution state is particularly useful for erasing or other operations where a large area designation capability is preferable; the high resolution state is useful for pointing and other operations where it is desired to precisely define a location. The disclosed light pen is realized by incorporating plural sensing means each sensitive to a different wavelength of radiation and corresponding large and small areas subtending the aperture each of which transmits the wavelength to which a corresponding sensing means is sensitive. This facilitates electrically switching between a large effective aperture and a small effective aperture.
