The aim is to achieve all sitting postures occurring during office work, and in particular the correction of injurious continuous sitting. The arrangement, the function and the connection of the pivot axes and the configuration of the seat support (4) within the chair mechanism (1) have predominant novelty value. Mechanical springs, which are less expensive than gas springs, are used as component parts. Springing during synchronous movement is effected by means of a torsion spring (9), while the negative inclination utilizes compression springs (21). The mechanism offers a number of options--locking in determined functions--for special applications. In addition to the wide movement range, the apparatus is distinguished by a compact and efficient construction.

The mechanism which is designed for a chair, in particular for a rotatable office chair with a gas spring which is arranged in a vertical manner in the lower frame of said chair and has a telescopically extendable piston rod for adjusting the height of a seat, has the effect that the adjustment of the inclination of the seat is synchronous with the adjustment of the inclination of the backrest. The mechanism has a base (20) which is stationary per se, through which a stationary first rotary shaft (D1) extends and on which a seat support which can be inclined is mounted. A front connecting means (21) which is connected in an articulated manner in a stationary third rotary shaft (D3) on the base (20) and in a moveable fourth rotary shaft (D4) is arranged between the base (20) and the seat support. The mechanism also has a rear connecting means (24) which is connected in an articulated manner in a moveable sixth rotary shaft (D6) at one end and in a further moveable rotary shaft (D5) at the other end. The mechanism contains at least one first spring element (26) which acts between the base (20) and the seat support and is connected in an articulated manner in the fourth rotary shaft (D4). At the other end, this first spring element (26) is connected in an articulated manner in a moveable eighth rotary shaft (D8) whose position can be varied by means of a gear mechanism (25) which can be operated by the user from the outside. The invention relates to a table which has variable dimensions, especially a long length, and is mainly used in offices and conferences. The base of the table is supported by feet (6) and carries table leaves (1,1) which are brought together at the longitudinal sides thereof, and an insert (8,81) which can be inserted in-between said leaves, can have different configurations and can be used as a support for various structures. The base of said table comprises at least two transversal supports (2) provided with a central sunken channel region (20) from which two extension arms (21) respectively extended in opposite directions, the feet (6) being mounted on said arms, and lateral struts (4) supporting the table leaves (1,1) being arranged on the outside. The transversal supports (2) are interspaced in a parallel manner, perpendicularly in relation to the longitudinal direction of the table. An upwardly open sheet metal channel (3) having a preferably trapeziform cross-section is fixed in the longitudinal direction of the table on the two transversal supports (2). Containers (9′) for CPUs are suspended below the table in free positions on the lateral struts (4). The particular advantages of said table are essentially the stability, even for a long structure, and relatively low construction costs. The freedom in the dimensioning, the various inserts (8,81) and the differrent structures create a design which is adapted to individual requirements.
