Abstract: A radiotherapy apparatus is disclosed herein comprising a rotatable ring-shaped gantry and a direct drive mechanism. The direct drive mechanism being configured to cause rotation of the rotatable ring-shaped gantry, wherein the direct drive mechanism is further configured to transmit torque directly to the rotatable ring-shaped gantry without intermediate transmission components.
