    摘要: In one example, a first message center address associated with a home message center and a second message center address associated with an emergency message center are stored in memory of the mobile device. A user input request for communicating a short message is received through a user interface of the mobile device. If the user input request is identified as being for an emergency message, the second message center address is read from the memory and provided in a message center address field of the short message. The short message having the second message center address in the message center address field is then transmitted by the mobile device to the wireless network. The network identifies the second message center address in the message center address field and, in response, causes the short message to be sent to the emergency message center which is local to the network.

The communications device maintains at least one condition for attempting emergency call setups. Upon receiving a message prompting an emergency call setup, the communications device attempts the emergency call setup only if any of the at least one conditions is satisfied. The at least one condition is defined such that the communications device does not erroneously attempt to establish an emergency call when there is no emergency. The at least one condition might for example include whether the message prompting the emergency call setup indicates a message source that is trusted by the user of the mobile device. A system and method are also provided for a communications network to block at least some of the messages from being delivered to their target communications device.

    摘要: Methods and apparatus for producing a user-controlled PLMN list for a SIM/USIM card with use of a user agent application are disclosed. Selection indication data corresponding to at least one of a plurality of network attribute type preferences is received at the user agent application. The selection indication data may be received through a user interface of the user equipment, a user application of the user equipment, or both. The at least one selected network attribute type preference is indicative of a preference to prioritize network selection based on at least one network attribute type of a plurality of network attributes types (e.g. cost, bandwidth, quality, number of available features, etc.). A list of network identifications associated with a plurality of wireless communication networks is ranked in accordance with a ranking of network attributes of the at least one selected network attribute type made available by the plurality of wireless communication networks. The ranked list of network identifications is then stored as a user-controlled PLMN list in the SIM/USIM. An automatic network selection process may then be performed with use of the user-controlled PLMN list. As apparent, network selection may be controlled and facilitated by the end user in a more conceptual fashion. Other additional and alternative advantageous features are described in the detailed description.

    摘要: Methods and apparatus for use by mobile communication devices for communicating short messages of the emergency type via wireless communication networks are disclosed. In one illustrative example, a first message center address associated with a home message center and a second message center address associated with an emergency message center are stored in memory of the mobile device. The memory may be a removable memory module, such as a Subscriber Identity Module (SIM), for the mobile device. A user input request for communicating a short message is received through a user interface of the mobile device. If the user input request is identified as being for an emergency message, the second message center address is read from the memory and provided in a message center address field of the short message. The short message having the second message center address in the message center address field is then transmitted by the mobile device to the wireless network. The network identifies the second message center address in the message center address field and, in response, causes the short message to be sent to the emergency message center which is local to the network. This way, when the mobile device is visiting a non-home wireless network, the short message is routed to the appropriate local emergency message center. The mobile device may receive the second message center address over a broadcast channel of the wireless network and store it in association with a wireless network identification for use when operating in the wireless network. In an alternative technique, an indicator (e.g. a Transport Protocol-ID) of the short message is set to indicate that the short message is an emergency message in lieu of providing the second destination message in the message center address field.
