Abstract: Grease compositions are provided that can have one or more unexpectedly beneficial low temperature properties even though the grease compositions are formed from lower value components that traditional low temperature greases. The unexpectedly beneficial low temperature properties can be achieved in part by grease compositions that include a naphthenic base stock having a viscosity index of roughly 120 or less and/or a pour point of −20° C. or more while having a naphthenes content of 60 wt % or more. In some aspects, the naphthenic base stock can have an aromatics content of 20 wt % or less.

Abstract: The present disclosure provides a grease composition with improved water resistance and mechanical stability at high-temperatures, including: at least one base oil; a water insoluble thickener; and a low molecular weight thixotropic polyamide composition having molecular weight distribution characteristics meeting the requirement described by the relationship: ( A + D ) ( B + C ) ≥ 0.05 where A=the % mass of the polyamide composition with a molecular weight greater than 1700 AMU; B=the % mass of the polyamide composition with a molecular weight between 1100 AMU and 1300 AMU; C=the % mass of the polyamide composition with a molecular weight between 700 AMU and 1000 AMU; and D=the % mass of the polyamide composition with a molecular weight of 600 AMU or lower (determined by GPC). The grease composition of the present disclosure provides a less than 50 penetration point change as determined by ASTM-D7342, a less than 10 mg weight loss as determined by ASTM-D4170, or both.

Abstract: A wax composition can be incorporated into a biomass mixture, such as a woody biomass mixture, for formation of pellets, such as wood fuel pellets. The addition of wax compositions with suitable amounts of n-paraffins relative to the amount of oil-in-wax can result in biomass pellets with improved properties, such as improved durability and/or reduced tendency to uptake moisture during storage. Addition of a suitable wax composition can also allow for formation of biomass pellets with improved properties while also reducing or minimizing the power requirements during pellet formation.

Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for processing a feed derived from a renewable source to form oligomerized compounds corresponding to waxes, ketone waxes, and/or lubricant boiling range compounds. The oligomerized compounds derived from the renewable source can have various novel properties relative to waxes and/or lubricant boiling range compounds derived from mineral sources or derived from renewable sources in a conventional manner. The oligomerized compounds can be derived from a renewable source including fatty acids and/or fatty acid derivatives, such as glycerides (including triglycerides) and fatty amides. Optionally but preferably, at least a portion of the fatty acids and/or fatty acid derivatives can include olefinic bonds.
