Abstract: An apparatus for controlling fluid flow through a conduit, including a housing having an inlet and an outlet adapted to register with the conduit. A valve member is disposed in the housing and is operatively connected to an actuator for moving the valve between an open position in which fluid flow is permitted through the housing and a closed position in which fluid flow through the housing is prevented. The valve is normally urged to the open position and the arrangement is such that a continuous manually applied energy input to the apparatus is required to move the valve to the closed position. A fire protection system incorporating the above apparatus.
