Abstract: The invention relates to the field of algaculture, particularly the culture of unicellular red algae (URA). In particular, the invention relates to a method for the culture of unicellular red algae, characterised in that the specific culture conditions, in terms of lighting and nutrients, allow the production of a protein-rich biomass that can contain an increased amount of URA and produce, in addition to pigments, particularly phycocyanin and carotenoids: β-carotene and zeaxanthin. The invention also relates to the biomass that can be produced using the method of the invention, to the uses of the biomass and to products that can contain said biomass.
