Abstract: A method of fabricating a liquid metal radio-frequency (RF) coil assembly of a magnetic resonance (MR) system using a sewing machine is provided. The method includes providing a sewing accessory assembly, the sewing accessory assembly including a substrate holder and a presser foot. The method also includes attaching the presser foot with a sewing machine, positioning the substrate holder containing a first substrate underneath a needle arm of the sewing machine, and carving a pattern of grooves on a surface of the first substrate using the presser foot by operating the sewing machine. The method further includes forming RF coil loops by depositing liquid metal in the grooves and applying a second substrate over the RF coil loops.

Abstract: A method of fabricating a stretchable RF coil assembly of an MR system using a sewing machine is provided. The method includes providing a sewing accessory assembly. The sewing accessory assembly includes a substrate holder including an inner hoop and an outer hoop. The method also includes assembling a former and a stretchable substrate with the substrate holder by coupling sides of the former and sides of the stretchable substrate between the inner hoop and the outer hoop. The method further includes coupling the assembled substrate holder with a sewing machine, and assembling an RF coil assembly by sewing a pattern of a fiber conductor on the stretchable substrate.

Abstract: A radio frequency (RF) coil assembly for a magnetic resonance (MR) system is provided. The RF coil assembly includes an RF coil array and a substrate assembly. The RF coil array includes one or more RF coils each RF coil including a coil loop that includes a wire conductor, the wire conductor formed into the coil loop. The substrate assembly includes a first substrate layer and a second substrate layer, wherein the first substrate layer is coupled with the second substrate layer at seams without a separately-provided fastening mechanism, wherein the RF coil array is positioned between the first substrate layer and the second substrate layer.

Abstract: A supine torso radio frequency (RF) coil assembly for a magnetic resonance (MR) system is provided. The RF coil assembly includes an RF coil array and a lining. The RF coil array includes a plurality of RF coils each RF coil including a coil loop that includes a wire conductor, the wire conductor formed into the coil loop and a coupling electronics portion coupled to the coil loop. The plurality of RF coils form into a contoured portion, the contoured portion sized to receive at least part of a breast of a subject therein. The lining includes a contoured portion. The RF coil array is coupled to and distributed on the lining, the contoured portion of the RF coil array covering and conforming with the contoured portion of the lining.
