Abstract: An articulated, spring-controlled intake poppet valve for use in the intake port of a four-stroke cycle, reciprocating internal combustion engine, the poppet valve including a valve head and a separate valve actuating stem pivotally interconnected to each other, the valve head being normally held closed by a coiled spring located inside the intake port with one end of the spring secured to the valve head and the other end thereof to the cylinder head.
