A vehicle seat comprises a base frame 12 including a pan 18, rear wall 20 and front rail 22, a rubber diaphragm 14 comprising a rectangular base portion 46 with a pair of upwardly and outwardly extending sides 48, lugs 58 integral with the front and rear edges of the base portion 46 and secured by hooked fasteners 64 to the frame 12, and a border wire 16 disposed above the frame 12, the outer edges of the sides of the diaphragm being secured to the border wire 16. The border wire 16 may be embedded in the diaphragm 14 during moulding. Sinuous springs 78 interconnect the seat pan 18 and the side limbs of the border wire 16. A seat pad 84 has a cover 86 with a bottom edge 88 secured in channels 90 (and 92) in the seat pan 18 and rear wall 20.
