Abstract:
A vehicle-headlamp-energizing circuit for headlamps connected in series. Each headlamp has a breakdown diode connected in parallel, and each breakdown diode has a breakdown voltage slightly larger than the normal potential drop across its parallel connected lamp so as to conduct current around the lamp when it fails and maintain conduction through the remaining lamps.
Abstract:
A rotating member speed sensor in which microwaves are beamed toward the rotating member so as to be reflected from a surface of the rotating member to a detector. The surface of the rotating member has grooves therein so as to amplitude modulate the beamed microwaves such that the reflected microwaves as sensed by the detector have a frequency of modulation corresponding to the speed of rotation of the rotating member.
Abstract:
An electrogasdynamic converter is attached to the exhaust port of an internal combustion reciprocating engine so that the exhaust gases assist in operation of the converter which produces a pulse of electrical energy for each pulse of exhaust gas. For a multicylinder engine, an EGD converter is provided for each cylinder and the converters are connected in parallel to produce a high voltage DC output or are connected in pairs with opposite polarities to provide a multiphase AC output.
